How Long Should I Workout? Some Say No More than 50 Minutes.

Over time, I would experiment with different rep schemes, rep speeds, number of sets per body part, body part combinations, number of sets per workout, rest between sets etc..  Some combinations will result in longer workouts than others. Give each little experiment a couple of months to really see what the results are going to be.  There is really no reason to rush the process.

So long as you are eating sufficiently and getting enough sleep, you will find what works best for you and that a little variety is a good thing. For most, hard and brief works best, but you may be an exception.

The 40 to 60 minute rule generally comes from studies that show exogenous testosterone levels drop at this point.  I have seen no study that this actually results in diminished results. Also, most enthusiastic beginners tend to over train.

If you get results from longer workouts, do it.
